Outdoor wedding - middle of the day - tough to shoot, especially for a beginner. There are so many things I would have done differently that day. But I learned a whole lot!

We're about to set sail on a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera. The Sapphire Princess is a gorgeous ship!

03-22-09 - Ranch Dog
This border collie that lives at the ranch makes a great model. Love the depth of field in this photo.
03-20-09 - A Little Cabin
Went to a weekend retreat, and someone referred to this as the owner's "cabin". The photo doesn't capture the full court basketball, the pool, the tennis courts, or the guest house!
As for our amenities...
They looked nothing like photo shown. We stayed in a basement with no windows that had been sprayed heavily with bug spray before we arrived. It slept about 60 women, but fortunately only about 45 of the beds were full. There were two toilets, two showers, and two changing stalls. Our little room had 4 sets of bunk beds. We had five women in that little room. Thank goodness we all got along well.
At least the outside grounds were beautiful.

03-19-09 - Flags
Lots going through my mind regarding photography lately... I want to know everything about it NOW, and there just aren't enough hours in the day.... While I still love it, I really struggle with posting a photo every day. I want all of my photos to at least be interesting, and so many days, like today, they just aren't, and I'm embarrassed by it. My schedule is so full during the week that often times, I feel like I have to get through the photo-a-day part.
My favorite thing to photograph is toddlers just being toddlers, and that subject won't work for a blog.
I'm going away for the weekend. I'll get some shots while I'm away. Hopefully they'll be somewhat interesting!!!

03-15-09 - My First Trip to the GETTY
My instructor for my photography class gave us an assignment to visit a museum. Among the list of museums to visit was The Getty.
No one in my group of 4 had yet been to The Getty. I guess we'd have to be tourists to visit it, eh? NOT! I cannot believe that was our first trip. What a treat! I even ran into a classmate there.
It was so great, and I got so many photos, that I had a hard time deciding which one to post. So, you get three photos today!I love the flower close-up because of the angle, the color, and the depth of field.
I love the 2nd photo because of the angle and the slight smattering of people in it.
I love the 3rd photo because it didn't look like much until I used Photoshop. I was able to crop it into the shape of a cross and when I darkened it up a bit, it gave it so much depth.
What a great place to take photos. We're going back in April!
03-14-09 - Christians Persecuted
Central Christian Church in Lancaster had a great Missions Conference this year. They focused on how you can be persecuted in many countries for being a Christian. In the foyer of the church, they had a jail cell that contained a stool, a bible, and handcuffs.
